TV Trailer: Lifetime’s ‘The Clark Sisters: First Ladies of Gospel’ Biopic [Watch]

Published: Sunday 1st Dec 2019 by Rashad

Although it’s been over a year since Lifetime first announced its intent to bring the life stories of Gospel royals The Clark Sisters to TV screens (as we reported here), Thanksgiving weekend saw patient fans finally get their first taste of what the women’s network cooked up.

Produced by Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott, and Mary J. Blige, the film tells the tale of how the Clarks – comprised of Dorinda, Jacky, Twinkie, Denise, and Karen – went from humble Detroit beginnings to breaking music barriers with over five decades of Gospel classics and crossover hits including the likes of ‘You Brought the Sunshine,’ ‘Name It, Claim It,’ and more.

Starring Aunjanue Ellis as their mother, Mattie, singer Christina Bell stars as Twinkie, Kierra Sheard as her mother, Karen, Sheléa Frazier as Dorinda, Raven Goodwin as Denise, and Angela Birchett as Jacky.

Set for a Spring 2020 premiere, look inside for the long-awaited trailer:

I’m really excited for this film and SO HAPPY Missy is on the production. She is a huge fan and she shouts them out all over her discography. So I know she’s going ham on this.

The TIMELESS Caravan Child Lerone Baker QUESTIONS? – COGIC Clark Sisters “TRUTH OR LIES” In UP COMING: First Ladies Of Gospel? Lifetime Movie. ATTENTION: Clark Sisters The ROOT Of Gospel Music BEGAN With Hymns, Thomas Dorsey, Mahalia Jackson And The Caravans PERIOD! Now For YOUR SAKE Clark Sisters, I HOPE YOU TOLD THE TRUTH In The MOVIE. I Know How People Get When YOU Get A Little MONEY And FAME. YOU Start Getting MEMORY LOST. THINKING It’s OKAY “IF YOU JUST TELL A FEW WHITE LIES And TWISTING THE TRUTH” To Make Yourself LOOK BIGGER Than What YOU Are. I’m Not Trying To DRAW ANY ATTENTION To MYSELF, There Is NO JEALOUSY Here On MY PART, NO REBUKES And NO HARM INTENT. I’m Just SICK OF THE LIES And DECEIT From YOU People Getting UP “TOUCHING, STEALING” And “TAKING CREDIT” For What They DID NOT DO! I’m Just REMINDIND YOU Ladies OF THE GOSPEL TRUTH. Now Ladies There Is Going To Be ALOT Of People That SEE The Movie, Who Don’t Know The REAL TRUE ROOT Of Gospel Music. If What They Are SEEING And HEARING Isn’t The TRUTH, They Are Going To WALK AWAY BELIEVING A LIE And That Is Where YOU And I ARE GOING TO HAVE A PROBLEM Ladies. I’m Not LOOKING For YOU To Bring The Names Of Thomas A Dorsey, Mahalia Jackson Or The Caravans Up In The Movie. The Movie Is About The Clark Sisters HOPEFULLY? Not The ORIGINAL PIONEERS!What I DO NOT WANT TO SEE AND HEAR In The Movie Is “CREDIT STOLEN” From Them MY PIONEERS. That YOU DID NOT DO Or Where NOT Even BORN At The TIME TO DO. I TRULY HOPE And WISH YOU Ladies Much SUCCESS If It’s THE GOSPEL TRUTH?
